Who is eligible for a free vacation week?
Families in New England who have suffered a loss and are grieving are eligible to apply for a free vacation week.
How do you define a family?
We define a family as one or more adults over the age of 25 and children accompanied by a legal guardian. Family size may not exceed the specified number of guests that property can accommodate, and may include extended family members.
How does a family apply for a free vacation week?

Do families need to specify a vacation property they are applying for?
Families have the option to apply for specific or multiple properties and dates during the application process.
Can families choose their vacation week?
Families are welcome to apply for one or multiple vacation properties and weeks listed on the Application Process page.
Does the family need to submit their own application?
Families may apply on their own behalf or be referred by:
- Medical professionals, social workers, clergy or teachers.
- Extended family members with detailed knowledge of the family’s situation.
- Legal Guardians.
To respect a family’s privacy, It is essential that a referrer that is not part of the immediate family discusses the vacation opportunity with the family before submitting an application.
What expenses is the family responsible for?
The family will need to provide transportation to and from the vacation property, food, and any medical supplies or adaptive equipment that as needed for the week.
Vacation Property Donors
I have an investment property with unused weeks. How do I donate them?
Complete the online Property Donation Form and we will contact you to arrange a time to learn more about your property and discuss the process.
Will the families sign a rental agreement?
Yes, the families will sign a no-charge rental agreement that outlines property and community rules, arrival, departure times and additional guidelines specific to the vacation property.
Will guests pay a security deposit?
Anam Cara Vacations will cover the security deposit.
Donations of Goods & Services
I own a kayak outfitter near some of the properties. How do I donate kayak rentals?
We appreciate all donations that will help enrich a family’s vacation experience. Please complete the Donate Goods & Services Form, specifying the amount of rental time you plan to donate, how it will be redeemed, and any time restrictions or expiration dates.
Can I donate cleaning services?
Yes, cleaning and other service donations Goods & Services Form are gratefully accepted, Please notify us by completing the Donate Goods & Services Form.
How can i donate grocery gift cards?
Please complete the Donate Goods & Services Form including the amount and expiration date of the gift card. Once we confirm the donation, the gift cards should be mailed or emailed to Anam Cara Vacations who will distribute them to families.
Can I donate equipment such as used bicycles?
Because property weeks are donated by their owners we are generally unable to accept used equipment, due to lack of storage.
